Glitter, confetti and unicorns

Usually, I don‘t watch films during the week. Just an episode of favourite series to chill and then straight to bed. But this time when I saw the trailer of Unicorn Store I sent the link to J. with a message We have to watch this. And I did the very same evening. I actually don‘t remember when I was so excited about a new Netflix film. But for sure it was already for some time. I just like when regular life meets magic in this easy to believe way. If you don‘t like easy and cheerful films, then maybe this one is not for you, but if you still feel like a little girl you will love it.

Kit is a dreamer, she is a student at art school, who is kicked out after she paints a bold, colourful and glittery picture. They judge her style as poor. When she was a child she believed in unicorns and now she is back at her parents, totally devasted and trying to put in a box all of her dreams, glitter, Care Bears. To prove the world and her parents that she is not a total failure, she applies to an office where she takes copies of papers. When she tries to blend in which goes really badly (coping her hand in the machine or smiling too brightly) she starts to get magical envelopes with an invitation to the Unicorn Store, where they claim to have what she wants and needs.

Typically she goes there in the middle of the night all by herself and… nothing bad happens. She meets the salesman who shows her what she can get there. Something she has always dreamt about. She can get her own unicorn, but first, she has to meet the requirements. Build a house worth a unicorn, prove she can take good care of him and also provide a loving family. Can she do that and will she get a promotion at her new job? And does the unicorn really exist? You have to watch it to find out, but I can tell you that after watching this film I had this nice and warm feeling in my heart. And that is the whole point of comforting films.
